our 70s night

Image
Our friends Devin and Naomi hosted a great Murder Mystery night set in the 70s on Saturday. Adam and I were Bruce Leap and Diana Rush and boy did we look hot! Devin and Naomi were Andy Warthog and Gloria Stunnem. Katie and Spencer were Lyza M. and John Revolting. It was so fun to get dressed up and we enjoyed the company and the food! Thanks Wagstaffs! Here are the girls: And the guys: Other happenings lately...I have been behaving myself by not exercising or doing anything too strenuous and have only had a little bit of cramping since my first incident. I worked on Monday and did OK but was totally fatigued after. Marian and Adam had a rousing game of "Lolli, lolli, lolli, POP!" (I think it's nursery's version of duck duck goose) while I was gone. Adam really is the greatest dad--sometimes I think he should stay at home and I should be the breadwinner because he's so cute with Mini. We've also been working a little on potty training but haven't gotten too

a little scare

OK, maybe it was a big scare. Tuesday morning I got up and was going about my normal routine. As I got off the exercise bike, however, I almost immediately started cramping. I thought it would go away so kept doing my normal thing--shower, bathe Marian, etc. We went up to the Draper temple open house and by the time we got out, I was worried because the cramping had continued, even increasing in intensity. So we went to the doctor office for a fetal fibronectin test (just so you know, a cervical swab does NOT help an already cramping uterus feel any better). It tests for proteins that are released if your body is going into labor. They told me it would take 4 hours so to go home and rest. I went home and laid down until the pain was so bad it was radiating to my back and feeling more and more like my labor pains with Marian. At that point I remembered why epidurals are so wonderful! I also got really scared thinking about the little 25-week babies I saw in my NICU rotations and the lon

the latest

Although I've been a pretty good blogger so far this year, I haven't written about some of "the latest" in our lives. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day (by the way, does anyone have a little trick to keeping MLK Jr. Day and Presidents Day straight? I can never remember which is in which month!), we hiked into my parents' cabin and sledded out. It's a fun tradition we do every year. We always get hot and sweaty walking up the road pulling sleds, hot chocolate jugs, children, etc. then freeze when we go in the cabin for the hot chocolate and treats. We always have fun though and it's just about the perfect level of intensity for a 2-year old and a pregnant mommy. Last week Marian and I went to the Bean Museum for the first time. I was really impressed. Here were my favorite things: the 2-headed snake, the huge bear, and learning about a tuatara (a lizard-looking reptile) that has 3 eyes--one on top of its head. It's going extinct, which surprises me because
