Emily

When in the course of human biological events it becomes necessary for one person to dissolve the umbilical bands which have connected her with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle her, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that I, the father, should declare the statistics and condition of such individuals so separated....... so here is my post:

Sunday morning:
0330: Martha, who has been contracting, wakes Adam.
0330: Adam, who is happy to hear that contractions are coming, is nevertheless content to lie in bed for a little longer.
0330-0350: Adam and Martha time contractions at 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes apart.
0400: Contractions increasing in strength.
0410: Joe arrives to watch Marian.
0415: Martha is not enjoying contractions which are strong and consistent by now.
0416: Joe's expression shows that he's never seen a woman in labor.
0420: Adam and Martha leave for the hospital.
0422: Martha tells Adam to avoid all bumps in the road.
0423: Martha tells Adam to run the red light.
0430: Martha arrives at the hospital and is dilated to a six.
0500: Epidural is administered.
0600: Dr. Broberg arrives and breaks the water.
0620: Martha starts pushing.
0644: Emily Carol Birk arrives.

Mother and baby are doing well. Emily was pale and blue at first due to her umbilical cord wrapped tightly around her neck twice, but pinked up quickly. She is just fine now. She is the exact same size as Marian was: 3.26 kilograms and 48.26 centimeters (that's 7 pounds 3 ounces and 19 inches for you Americans who haven't figured out the beauty of the metric system). Martha did very well throughout the entire process and is healing well. What an amazing woman! Thanks for all your prayers and support.

And, of course, the pictures...

Dear Baby Emily,
You are absolutely precious! We can't wait to meet you. Your mommy is a hero, and we're so proud of your daddy for committing his first-ever traffic violation in your honor. We hope big-sister Marian is getting used to you and that YOU are getting used to this big, wide world. We love you!

Congratulations! We are so glad that she finally came and you can be enjoying her! Glad that she is okay - so scary to have the cord around her neck...crazy that it happened with both of your girls! We hope you are all well and can't wait to meet her :)

Oh, congrats! She is beautiful! She looks like her sister. I can't wait, this makes me anxious to meet our little girl and have Talmage hold her. I love it! Way to go, by the way, your body knew just what to do without being induced, it went quick! I hope you are happy and well. Cry a few times for me, after is when the real emotions hit for me, I'm not looking forward to that.

Splendid post Adam. Thank you for providing the requests of I and others of mankind with such exquisite details of the birth. It is much appreciated.
Hoorary for such a fast labor! I laughed to imagine Martha telling you (through contractions) to run the red light! I love it!

Congratulations!!!! She looks very cute. Oh, and Adam, it took you thirty-two characters to describe the statistics in your beloved metric system and only 27 in the more internet friendly (English) version. No wonder the internet is getting slower and slower. But really, the Radmall family is so happy and excited for your family!

Glad she is here and you are all doing well!
Yea, Emily has arrived. Will you call her "millie" or Emily? Wow She doesn't mess around when she is ready.

What a coincedence both little wanted to come on Memorial day, well Spencer started contractions 6am Sunday morning of last year and came at 12:15am, so technically one day later, but that is pretty close!

We are so happy for you!

Adam, I love your writing style. What a hilarious entry. It's even funnier in writing, even though you told me all of it over the phone. Congratulations to all of you. She is beautiful. I love the picture of Marian and Emily. It's so fun to have the big sister meet the new arrival. We love you!
Adam, that was hilarious, and 4:16 made me laugh out loud! Congrats guys, I am so happy everything went well. It sounds like it happened really fast, which is nice to hear. I am happy you got there earlier then Becca did and was able to get an epidural! And finally, Emily is beautiful, what a perfect little baby. I hope I get to meet her in person soon. Love ya.
